How Byredo batch codes work: Depending on the code format, the first character is the last digit of the production year, and the second character is the month letter (A = January, B = February, and so on). Because the year is a single digit, the same code returns every ten years.
Example: checkfresh reports 2021-08-22 for code 1234.
Verified examples for Byredo (cross-checked against checkfresh.com)
| Batch code | Production date |
|---|---|
| 1234 | 2021-08-22 |
| 1201 | 2021-07-20 |
| 2A01 | 2022-01 |
Use these to sanity-check your own code: if your result sits a decade away from our example, your bottle is the earlier era.

How to find the Byredo batch code
On most Byredo bottles the code is stamped on the base of the bottle or printed on the bottom of the box. On flacons with a sticker it can also sit on the cellophane or the label edge. Read it exactly as printed — letters and digits both matter.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my code give a different year on another website?
Many 2-character or 4-character codes repeat every decade, so the same code exists for 2015 and 2025 bottles. Decoders also differ in how they interpret the month letter. Our reading follows the standard Byredo scheme, and we show a confidence level instead of pretending to be exact. If the year is close but the month differs, the code is most likely still being read correctly.
Can the code tell me if it is authentic?
The batch code tells you the production date — not authenticity. A fake bottle often carries a plausible-looking code. Use the code together with the bottle, the box printing and the scent to judge authenticity. Our fake perfume guide walks through it, or check our authentication service.
How long does Byredo perfume last?
Most fragrances keep well for 3-5 years if stored away from light and heat. Properly stored vintage bottles — especially sealed parfum — can last decades and often improve.
