收藏: Parfums de Nicolai
Parfums de Nicolaï is the independent Paris house founded in 1989 by perfumer Patricia de Nicolaï and her husband Jean-Louis Michau. A great-granddaughter of Pierre Guerlain and niece of Jean-Paul Guerlain, Patricia de Nicolaï trained at ISIPCA and worked at Florasynth and Quest International before building a house free of marketing briefs — she composes every fragrance herself, in the house's own laboratory, and still runs the company with her family today.
The house is best known for Maharadjah (1989), New York (1989), Vie de Château (1992), Fig Tea (2007), Patchouli Intense (2009), Vanille Tonka (2010), L'Eau à la Folie (2012) and Amber Oud (2013). In 1988 she became the first woman to win the Société Française des Parfumeurs' International Prize for Young Perfumers, for Number One; she presided over the Osmothèque scent archive from 2008 to 2020 and is a Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur.
Nicolaï bottles carry no note pyramid — only the house crest, the fragrance name and the concentration — so collectors identify them by the label, the flacon shape and the eau fraîche / eau de parfum designation printed at the base. The discontinued eau fraîche line, in particular, is now hunted by collectors who want the original freshness of a house that never reformulated for focus groups.
